- Thread-topic: multiple ethernet ports, private subnet and public network
Hi All,
I am trying to set up multiple ethernet
ports on MacOSX 10.4.10. On my Intel
Mac, physical ethernet port 1 is connected to a private subnet and physical
ethernet port 2 is connected to a public network. Under "Network Port
Configurations", the only checked boxes are Built-In Ethernet 1 and Built-In
Ethernet 2.
The problem is that when Built-In Ethernet 1 is
listed first (under "Network Port Configurations"), the private subnet
connection works but the public network connection does not work (Safari is unable to reach web pages). If Built-In Ethernet 2 is listed first, then
the private connection does not work, but the public network connection works
fine (Safaris successfully reaches web pages).
Could someone explain to me why this is
happening? What can I do to get
multiple ethernet ports, one connected to a private subnet and another to a
public network, working at the same time?
Thanks!
- Alex
