10.5 and NT4 nbsession problem

  • Subject: 10.5 and NT4 nbsession problem

I have several NT4 servers in our environment that are domain controllers and WINS servers. Our MAC users recently have upgraded to 10.5 and since the upgrade I am seeing hundreds of nbsession connections in a LAST_ACK state on the NT4 server that is in the same subnet. I can't prove it but it seems to be Bonjour related. I have turned off all file sharing on the MACs and the number of connections continues to climb throughout the day - it eventually gets to the point where the only way to recover is to shutdown the MACs and reboot the NT4 server. I also have a Linux SAMBA server on the same subnet that doesn't show the same issues.

Any thoughts / ideas would be greatly appreciated!
