Of course they could, but their brains shut off upon encountering the
words "lawsuit" and "fines" and few bother to explore the issue any
further. Plus a lot of IT consultants purposely feed them
misinformation since they can charge a whole lot more to fish cable
through the walls than they can to spend 15 minutes setting up a $50
router from Best Buy. Your average doctor would rather write a check
than think about what constitutes a good business decision, and even
those that fully realize they're being scammed seldom do anything
about it because they simply don't have the time to shop around.
I talked to one doctor who was paying $500/mo for a $2 shared
webhosting account, and his site didn't even work.
