Title: Problem with Network Preferences &  System Configuration Framework
This is a problem which started recently – possibly with some security update in 10.4.11. I have an application which creates a PPP network location. This application uses the  System Configuration Framework to create a new Set and add a PPP Service.  This code has worked for a number of years.

Recently, something on OSX has changed. Our application continues to work as it always has, but once we add the new Set/Service, if the user opens the Network Preferences, a sheet drops down with the following Alert: “
Your network settings have been changed by another application.”. I could live with this if you hit the OK button and the sheet just dismissed itself. But, and here’s the problem, when the Alert is dismissed, it drops down again !  The user is in an infinite loop where the Alert continues to be re-displayed no matter how many times they hit the OK button. So, my question is: Has the System Config Framework changed in terms of the API’s that need to be called to create a network Set / Service ? What do I need to do to get rid of the Alert and prevent it from coming back when the OK button is hit ?

Thanx -

Alec Carlson
