- Thread-topic: VPN Support means ?
Hi All,
I was wondering if anybody can say what does the built in Mac OS X Leopard
VPN support/implement ?, as it obviously show's PPTP and "L2TP over IPSEC"
setup in Network System Preferences, but what are the other
items/dependencies which it needs a VPN Server to be setup for.
As I previously had an old LinkSys BEFVP41 router, which didn't seem to
work with 10.5.6 in built VPN (rdar://6831664), however if used "VPN
Tracker" I could get a connection, so I'm guessing the inbuilt version is
not as feature rich ? - Playing with setting it did look like you had to use
just basic options like DES and MD5 ?
However the LinkSys BEFVP41, didn't allow me to route all traffic through
it, which I need sometime need to do. Which is why I upgrade to a DrayTek
Vigor 2820vn, which seem a lot better as well as offer all the VPN protocols
and it also had a bunch of other stuff I regularly need - so cool I thought.
However I again seem to unable to get any of those services (PPT, L2TP
over IPSEC) to connect to that router compared using 'VPN Tracker' again via
IPSEC only.
Does anybody know of info to find out how I can use the inbuilt VPN
functionality (and iPhone) which is why I'm not going the 'VPN Tracker'
route and what should be mirrored on server side, as at the minute I'm
driving in the dark and this area is a little new for me.
Thanks in advance,
Mark.
