BitTorrent traffic tends to involve large data transfers in each connection (that's kind of the point), not very small requests.

I don't know enough about BitTorrent to take sides here.

If you use a news-reader, can it successfully update?

I use iTunes to update 40-50 podcasts, but it takes hundreds, and a minute or two, before connections start getting dropped.
