wireless packet capture with libpcap

  • Subject: wireless packet capture with libpcap

Hello,

I'm working on a Mac OS X 10.5 application that captures packets from the Apple Airport Extreme card in my MacBook. I was able to get it into rfmon mode thanks to Kismac's source code but when trying to capture packets with libpcap going between my iPod Touch and MacBook I only get the packets going from the AP to the iPod Touch and not going from the iPod Touch to the AP. I'm using a slightly modified version of the example code from Tim Carsten's pcap tutorial on tcpdump.org, http://www.tcpdump.org/sniffex.c with the only modification being the code to get the card into rfmon mode.

I'm using an unencrypted wireless network for testing. Does anyone know why it would only catch packets coming from the AP and not going to the AP? If you want to see the actual code I'm using let me know and I'll send it to you.

Thanks,
Chris Benedict
