Well, I tried "resolving" like I said yesterday and it seems to work. But there was more ... extracting the IP (v4) addresses from the NSNetService instances' -addresses using code adapted from here:

I'm not posting my code because it spans several files and might exceed the 25K of Apple's boards, and also because I find it hard to believe there's not an easier way.

Someone please embarrass me by naming the one-line API that I could have used to find the computer names and IP addresses of the servers on the local network.
