Might I suggest searching either in XCode documentation or developer.apple.com:
BonJour [this is for discovering what services a given computer may be willing to provide]
CFNetwork
network
There is plenty of sample code and documentation available, it just depends what kind of networking info you want, with different level's of abstraction.
