This response is a few months late, but maybe still helpful. Unlike most other OS X VPN clients (and Cisco's Windows client), Cisco does not create a virtual NIC. This means you won't see a separate IP address associated with Cisco client.
FYI, Cisco is implemented as an interface filter NKE, syphoning unencrypted traffic on the way out to the physical interface, encrypting it, and then reinjecting the traffic. Likewise for inbound traffic headed up the stack.

Hi,
I have a cisco vpn client configured.
I can connect to a vpn network using cisco vpn client.
I am trying to read the cisco vpn client address from the location tate:/Network/Service/[^/]+/IPv4.
The ip address of the cisco vpn client is same as ethernet.
When i do ifconfig, the cisco vpn interface is not shown but when i tried the same thing on windows,
ifconfig shows the new cisco vpn client interface and its address.
Some people from the apple lists suggested some solutions.
Ther are:
1)using $scutil
> list State:/Network/Service/[^/]+/IPv4
>show State:/Network/Service/[^/]+/IPv4
But the ip address of the cisco vpn client is same as ethernet.
2)To use inbuilt cisco vpn .
After configuring the in-built cisco vpn ,when i try to connect,it says "server negotiation failed.check the server address".
I tried
Plz can anyone tell me how to get theĀ correct ip address of the cisco vpn client.
