I installed the WiTap sample code app on my iPad and iPhone to see if I
could use some of this code in my own app. If I shut down WiFi so that it
can only use Bluetooth, it works fine. Response is great. However, if I
shut down Bluetooth and force it to use WiFi, response time varies anywhere
from a fraction of a second to 10 seconds or more.
WiTap uses very short messages -- sending only a single short, containing a
four-bit view index and a flag-bit. Is there something that could be added
to flush the message through, so that it gets sent immediately, instead of
the random long delay? Or is this just due to crappy WiFi, and multiple TCP
attempts? Or maybe delays in the WiFi router?
I really thought WiFi should work better than Bluetooth. Of course,
Bluetooth is a direct connection, whereas WiFi goes through the WiFi router.
