Last I checked NSURLConnection will log a message if you try to change the scheduling after it's started. I filed a bug against the docs about this <rdar://problem/6498492> and it was supposedly fixed in the Lion doc set. In fact, looking at the web site today, it doesn't have text you quoted.

I'm not sure why the iOS doc set hasn't picked up this change. Please file a bug against it.
