Just curious: What do you want to know for?

If I know I have a persistent connection, I don't have to worry about thrashing a cellular network with a deluge of connection requests when downloading a slew of images.

If I know pipelining is on, I can have the expectation that the rate I will get images will be greater than if I have to do them serially.

In both cases my app can operate differently.
