"tcplognke" is in the 'retired' section of the documents library.

This isn't an indication that the technology as a whole is deprecated, just that no one has got around to updating the sample in a while and thus it doesn't build out of the box.
Earlier this year I updated "enetlognke". You should look at that sample for general information about how to code, build and install NKEs on modern systems. You can then look at "tcplognke" itself for information specific to socket-level NKEs.
