I'm tearing hairs out of my head trying to capture DV from a Camcorder
on a G4 via firewire and it's not helping.
I'm running Panther 10.3.3. The camcorder is a Sony DCR-TRV315. iMovie
4 just tells me there is no camera connected. I checked every setting
on the camera and everything is as it should be. The weird thing is
that i capture from this camera before. I was using Panther 10.2 and
iMovie 3 last time it worked, so I set up Os 10.2 and iMovie 3 on a
separate drive. Still nothing! can't get it to work.
I also tried capturing with Final Cut Pro 4.1, and I have the same
problem. Before I was able to capture using Final Cut Pro 3.
One thing i notice in Final Cut Pro is that when i go to the Capture
Presets in Audio/Video Settings, under QuickTime Video Setting /
Digitizer: it says "[Missing] DV Video". the other option is "none".
Because the "Input" option is grey i can't select the camera model and
i think this is a clue as to why my system is not recognizing the
camera.
I reinstalled Quicktime, and Final Cut Pro but this didn't help either.
Any ideas what has gone wrong with my system?
