24 bit 4 channel audio for Final Cut Pro

Hi,

I updated to Quicktime 7 with Final Cut Pro 4.5 and Mac OS 10.3.9 . I then changed my audio driver to report as providing 4 channels of audio (instead of 2). I now get a "General Error" message whenever I try to open the Audio/Video settings in Final Cut.

Can you tell me please what are the minimum requirements for 4 channel 24 bit audio? Or at least 4 channel 16 bit audio.
