That was it, the build was PowerPC only –
AKA Mac :) –
Even worse … it was a development build

I assume by Mac you mean PowerPC?
Are you building your plugin Universal (Intel & PPC)? If you
Get Info on the plugin in the Finder, does it say that it is a Universal
plugin, or PowerPC-only? Are there any errors that appear in Console.app
when FCP tries to load your plugin?
