What we developers (and all of our users!) REALLY want is to be able to
change the min/max *display* in the animation curve view that is independent
of the min/max values *allowed*. (This is quite a separate topic from the
text input restrictions you propose to remove).
When your slider min/max is set to 0 to 30000 (say, for frame # range) and
the actual keyframes on the param range from 0 to 100, then it's impossible
to for the user to see the shape of the actual curve. Displaying a
[0,100]-valued curve over a [0,30000] range makes everything look flat.
