Title: Re: Compressor Scripts
In my experience, compressor does not like reference movies. I have not gotten them to work on our cluster. As for the cluster name, you will probably have to know the cluster controller name. in our situation, we have 4 xserves with one of them serving as the controller. We do not script, but use compressor to launch the job. After the job is launched, the cluster copies the file to the cluster, processes the file and copies the result to wherever you have told it to place it. Sometimes it’s just easier to have the local machine work on a file, but most times (especially for small promo or 7-10 minute pieces) the cluster can be a wonderful thing. I once ran a test on a 7 minute segment, converting it to a smaller quicktime for viewing....the machine alone took 1 1/2 hours...the cluster took 15 minutes.

Hi all,
I'm back to usual work after some other work and run into a little
problem while sending scripts to Compressor.
I do send a standard script as described in the manual to Compressor
- that works perfectly and is pretty cool as you can send this script
from any custom app you got and it works in the background as always.
Now a customer got the idea whether I can do send the job to a
cluster as well - which didn't seem to be a problem, BUT...
a) How/where can I find the available cluster names.
b) Even if the user types in a cluster name correctly and a valid
script is generated - cluster rendering does crash very often, even
though the log file says that files are found and can be read correctly.
c) Some of the files also crash the cluster process if everything is
done manually and submitted to a cluster. A reason might be that
these files are referenced movie (MXF).
As said not sending it to a cluster works perfect even with 500+ files.
Anyone knows anything about that?
Thanks
Andreas
