I believe that FCP will still send you kFxImageColorInfo_RGB_GAMMA_DEFAULT_MACINTOSH_DISPLAY images if you set your sequence to render in RGB. This is very uncommon. In this case, the images will be gamma 1.8, even on 10.6.
We used MACINTOSH_DISPLAY as a synonym for gamma 1.8, and this name unfortunately became confusing when the default gamma for macintosh displays changed.
