I have been trying to track down an occasional crash in Motion when using a FxPlug plugin I wrote for a client. Since I was having no luck finding it, I decided to simplify and see if I could reproduce the problem from a "clean slate". So, I made a new Filter project and made a single change to the default "brightness" filter: in -frameSetup, I changed it to disable hardware rendering ("*canRenderHardware = NO;"). Then I made a new Custom project in Motion 4 with the following properties:
Width: 720
Height: 480
Bit Depth: 32 Bit (float)
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square
Field Order: Lower First (Even)
Frame Rate: 30.00
Duration: 300 Frames
Start Timecode: 00:00:00:00
Background Color: (Black)
Background: Transparent
I add in a simple video clip (for example, the "mushroom sliced" clip from the Final Cut Express training CD) and then attempt to add the filter. Motion 4 reliably crashes immediately on my system with an "EXC_BAD_ACCESS". Can anyone else reproduce this, or have ideas about what might be causing it?
Thanks!
