Hi James,
Does this problem go away if you change the Timeline's "RT" menu to High quality, from its default of Dynamic?
When previewing, FCP will often decode footage at "medium" or "low" quality, which is typically 1/4 resolution. It sounds like something may be going wrong in this interaction with your codec.
I'm a bit confused as to what you're testing, though. You added a Text clip which has been encoded with your codec? Or are you adding FCP's built-in Text generator to a timeline which is set to use your codec for render?

After going through the codec with a fine tooth comb I am pretty sure it is responding correctly in RGB, YCbCr8 and YCbCr10. The shrunken text issue looks like another artifact of the real time preview of the sequence in Final Cut Pro vs the render engine, which works properly. Even if I force the size of the text in the FXScript to 1920x1080, the text is still shrunk to the upper left corner, so it is likely detecting the size correctly, but applying the 1920x1080 image with text with a scale to the preview of the sequence. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, James

Hi All
I have written a QuickTime codec for use in FCP. It only supports 1920x1080 and seems to work well in general (exporting, rendering, pass through). When I setup the sequence to use my codec most things work well except generated items. If I add a 'Text' clip with the default "SAMPLE TEXT" it looks fine in the clip preview and renders fine when I export the MOV, but when editing the "SAMPLE TEXT" shows up in the upper left quadrant of the sequence preview canvas. It does not look precisely like one quarter, fairly close but slightly smaller. I am sure my codec is returning an incorrect size for whatever fast path FCP is using, but I cannot find it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, James
