Dick,

Right now, you can do extensive bezier masking within Motion. You can publish your Motion templates so FCPX can see them. I don't think there's a way, however, to make the mask points generally available in FCPX. (The 4 corner case is a bit of a special case.)

Here are the docs for using masks:

You can file feature requests and bugs here:

I have been playing with FCPX and like it a lot... at least what is there.

I am trying to find out if modifiable shapes are supported -- for example add Bezier points to a square to form a star.

Modifiable shapes and masks are minimum requirements for a modern video editor.

I know Motion 5 is used to wrap FCPX effects.

The only thing I could find was a "Mask" effect under "Keying"  - a 4-point Mask.

I couldn't add or delete points -- just move the 4 points individually -- and it performed strangly.

FCP7 ships with all kinds of masks that I believe need to be available in FCPX.

I will be happy to submit a feature request -- but would like to know where?  FCPX? Motion 5?

Any guidance will be appreciated!

TIA

Dick
