I've been investigating parameter flags this morning and understand that not all flags are relevant to each parameter type. Does anyone know the behaviour of kFxParameter_DONT_SAVE? My reading is that it won't save any parameter's info when you say export as XML? But it does, by my tests?
My hoped meaning of the above was that it would somehow allow native and custom parameter controls to "skip" being added to FCP's undo/redo stack.
This gets me on to current problem - I'd like to have a custom parameter remote-control a bunch of (possibly) hidden/not visible parameters, and understand I must at least 'kick' the custom parameter to force the re-render (a work-around) to update the "hiding" native parameters. There's a but. But when you undo say, you get all the dummy custom kicks too. These don't allow me to put the parameters back to correct value(s). The best example is how the native FCP float parameter works - you can drag the slider around, when you stop and undo it jumps back to the value where it originally started (the "start-edit"), not all the intermediate values along the way (to the "end-edit").
Am I completely missing something here? From what I understand this isn't possible? I did look at a couple of 3rd party plugins - none seem to do any undo/redo.
