Interesting, thanks for the input. I actually didn't realize you could hook into the app to get playhead info. Is there a documented way to do that?
Thanks in advance

I don't know of any sanctioned way to do it. But I know that there are tools which hook into the app (FCP 7, not FCP X) via MIDI (I think or maybe a control surface API?) to get playhead timing information. For example, isn't there an FCP7 add-on which will show you the current playhead time in a very large window. You could probably write such a tool to talk to your FxPlug, or even just the dialog, but I don't have any details on how to do that.

Hi, I have a question about a demo I saw recently. Unfortunately it was in FCP 7, so slightly OT, but since it was with the FxPlug API, hopefully it is a useful answer going forward as well.
I saw a plug-in popup a modal UI, with its own preview window, which updated to match Final Cut's canvas window as the timeline was scrubbed. If someone had asked me if that was possible before I saw that, I would have said no, because I can't think of how. But obviously it is. Any hints on how?
Thanks in advance,
