Thanks to all for the responses, but unfortunately the problem persists.
Here are a few more specifics. It only affects 2008 Excel and Powerpoint
(Word 2008 saves fine). It affects both Faculty accounts with portable
home directories and students w/AFP network home directories. We have a
"local media" folder w/read write access for staff and students. If they
attempt to save there, the save completes normally. If they attempt to
save normally they get an error (on the initial save) that "PowerPoint
cannot access Faculty:username:Documents:savename.pptx because the file
has been moved or deleted." Again, this is on a file that they have just
created and are attempting the initial save on. Excel gives a similar
error. Office 2004 has never had a problem for faculty-- students had
issues once we instituted a cache redirect for them to the local drive,
but the .TemporaryItems folder at the share level completely resolved
those issues.
I have checked that the .TemporaryItems folder both exists, and has proper
permissions. Users also have access to launch all Microsoft related Apps.
Anyone else seen anything like this or have other ideas?
Thanks,
Roger
