Greetings,
We had a good turnout for our "Intro to Command Line" webinar a few weeks back. The recording for that session is here, for those of you that are new to the list.
Now it's on to our intermediate level webinar. I'd like to solicit feedback from you, and you can respond to the whole list or just me...your call. Here are the things I've discussed with a few co-workers on what would be most relevant. What we feel would be a good next step is to focus on file ownership and permissions, how to check them and how to change them. It comes up all of the time as a part of troubleshooting user logins, having scripts execute, etc. The focus of this 30-45 minute session would be:
- using "ls -la" to see details of files and folders - using "chown" to change the owner of files and folders - using "chmod" to modify the permissions of files and folders - use read (r), write (w) and execute (x) to make permission changes on files/folders - use numerics (777, 755, 644, etc) to make permission changes on files/folders
Thoughts?
Thanks, Corey
