Funny...I just sent this to my president and VPI a week ago! What I loved is the 97% faculty buy in!!!! Can you find out for us just how they got all of their faculty on board! I don't think many colleges faculty could agree on anything in such overwhelming numbers!

"This moment is for the professoriate. This is the time to look around and notice that we stand now in a field, not the prison cell (classroom) we have come to know so well. No one else on campus is stepping forward to assume innovation leadership: The cables have been pulled, the computers spread around the campus, policies in place, security systems running, and, out there, in the cloud, humanity begins to learn about virtual space. We are at the dawn of the social learning age. None of our prison routines are appropriate any longer. We dont need to pretend we are free any longer; we are free."

> How do you educate a generation of students eternally distracted by the internet, cellphones and video games? Easy. You enable them by handing out free iPhones - and then integrating the gadget into your curriculum.

> That's the idea Abilene Christian University has to refresh classroom learning. Located in Texas, the private university just finished its first year of a pilot program, in which 1,000 freshman students had the choice between a free iPhone or an iPod Touch.
Well written article gives us a glimpse into this standout 1-1 program in Texas.
