Title: Re: [Rockies-Edu] Microsoft Word not saving to leopard server
I tried this again after cd to the UserData Volume and it seems to have made a change. I’ll let you know how things go in a couple weeks. Kids are out of school next week.
Thanks,
Chery

Christine, found a try for you:
On the volume where the home directories are stored, you should try a chmod 1777 on the .TemporaryItems folder that's at the root. So if you are sharing user homes form the default location, that is /Users.
Open terminal and
cd /
sudo chmod 1777 .TemporaryItems
It will ask for the admin users' password. Give that a go.

Try saving locally to the desktop first and then drag files to the server….(I know with Adobe they recommend saving local and then backing up to the network)
Also, from what I know from Photoshop which can throw the same error, the document thumbnail is open in the OS and not allowing you to save….also try turning off coverflow and or thumbnails and use list view and see if it clears the problem…that’s why Adobe created Bridge…it was to get around the icon.dll problem that Microsoft refuses to correct….

My students are constantly getting an error message stating that their file is open elsewhere when trying to re-save their documents to our leopard server. We use WGM with individual logins and managed preferences. The client machines and server are running Leopard 10.5.8. We are using Office 2008. I cannot find any solutions through the Apple discussion lists or Microsoft websites. Help would be greatly appreciated.
