I wanted to chime in and say I got my hands on a new Nano today, and
had a chance to shoot video with it, take voice recordings, and watch
some video podcasts. A very compelling experience in a very
affordable, pocket sized device. A cart of these would certainly
empower a field trip, and break down some classroom walls.
Let me know if you are interested in learning more about the camera
and microphone on the new iPod Nanos.

Most of you have about and/or seen the iTunes 9 and iPod update
announcements. I wanted to add some extra info here in case you
didn't watch the keynote and get these latest numbers. In addition,
there is iTunes U upgrades in iTunes 9. iTunes 9 makes it easier for
you to manage, organize and find the iTunes U content you have
downloaded into your iTunes library. iTunes U items are now
organized into their own section of the iTunes library. Also, there
is now an iTunes U sync tab for managing the iTunes U content you
want to sync to your iPod or iPhone.
Here are the latest numbers on Apple mobile devices.
iPhone
• 30 million iPhone have now been sold worldwide in a little over 2
years.
• There are now over 75,000 apps in the App Store
• There have now been over 1.8 billion App Store downloads (not
including updates)
iTunes
• iTunes is now the #1 music retailer in the world, including all
online AND brick-and-mortar stores
• 8.5 billion songs have been downloaded from iTunes
• There are now 100,000,000 accounts on iTunes, making it one of
the largest stores on the web
iPod
• Apple has sold over 220 million iPods to date
• In the U.S., the iPod has 73.8% market share
• The next biggest MP3 player is “other” with 18%
• There have been over 20 million iPod touches sold.
• So combined that’s 50 million iPhones and iPod touches.
• 21,178 games and entertainment titles in the App Store now
• Compare that to 3,680 on the Nintendo DS and 607 on the Sony PSP
iPod nano
• Over 100 million sold
• By far the most popular MP3 player
Thanks,
Corey
