Title: SMB mount fails with snow leopard
My original question:
Has anyone run into problems with SMB mounts with Snow Leopard? I just installed my first test of Snow Leopard and have run into
a problem with an SMB mount. No matter if I try to mount by IP address or path it fails with a wrong password error. It works either way
on 10.5.x .
Phil...I have tried w/o the smb. That will default to afp. Thanks for the suggestion.
Michael...I’m not Windows knowledgeable. I’ve made a career out of sticking close to Unix and avoiding Windows.
When you ask what type of password is SMB set to use I’m not sure what you mean. I passed on the question
to our IT group and they didn’t seem to get it either.

A useful tool to keep on hand for backup and cloning of like hardware
types, CCC v3.3 is now OS X 10.6 ready. Certainly not a replacement
for an enterprise strength imaging or deployment solution, but plenty
useful.

Did you try without the SMB? I had trouble with Leopard when I put the
SMB:// but when I just tried the 10.x.x.x it took it.

We run a mixed system in D11 with Active Directory not quite implemented
fully. I just installed Leopard on machines that have worked fine under
Tiger with AD. I have discovered that with 10.5.8 I am unable to have
students save to the networked drives-designed mainly for PCs. We have
mixed domains, students on two sub-domains and the
teachers/administrators on the main domain. Sometimes teachers also have
the problem, but not always. The students always have the issue. It
looks like it saves, but there is no information in the file when they
try to open it. I'm not involved in the network end of things at all,
but trying to support students and find solutions. Is this a problem
that any of you have dealt with in the past for which you have a
solution?
