All versions of QuickTime are installed with the Pro abilities grayed out until a valid license code is entered for the Pro version.

I just found this link that describes the QuickTime install from the disc - updated 1/15/2010
It looks like QuickTime 7 is installed unless you already have a registration for Pro code on your computer and then it automatically recognizes and validates that code and upgrades the 7 version to Pro.

Oh really. I guess I continue to be confused. When I look at the properties it shows pro within the logo.

Actually...I don't think that version on the disc has the pro features. I believe it's bundled with snow leopard because QuickTime X doesn't support older media/formats.
The idea is to install that QuickTime 7 version from the disc and then upgrade to the pro version.

Mary,
Thanks for the info. Additionally, I have learned, on the 10.6 install disk in the Optional Installs.mkpg
you can load version 7.6.3 which has the Pro features.
It makes me wonder what, if anything, you get that?s different if you buy QuickTime Pro for $29.00.

With 10.6 you get QuickTime X (which is an enhanced version of the Player but NOT a Pro version). If you had QuickTime Pro installed and did an upgrade to Snow Leopard, the install moves your QTPro app out of the App folder to the Utilities folder.
FCS 7 does not come with QuickTime Pro.

Didn?t QuickTime Pro used to be included with Final Cut Studio 6? With FCS 7
it seems that you no longer get Quick Time Pro. Can anyone verify this for me?
Thanks,
