Hello All
We have a weird issue with one of our Mac users and just wondering if anyone else has ran into this?
Background:
- User is using Mac G5 with OSx 10.6.8, Mac is bound to AD on windows server
- User connects to a shared drive on windows server to access all of her information
o Go – Connect to Server – smb://servername
Problem:
- When user tries to rename a folder that she created sometimes it works and sometimes it gives her permission denied.
o We have verified that she is the only one in that folder
o She has full rights on the windows server
o Mac shows that she has read rights permissions to the folder
- After getting the permissions denied message, if she tries again at a later time (10 secs later) it works fine.
- This also happens when she tries to move files from one folder to another.
- *note* this is only happening on her mac.
o If she users her Windows laptop everything works fine.
What I have done:
- Created a user account with the same permissions as the user
- User a mac with OSx10.6.8
- Tested renaming folders, moving files in her directory.
o I also get the same permission denied error messages but 5-10 secs later I can move the files and rename the folders.
ยง *note* I could only get this to happen on the mac as well. The PC works every time.
My conclusion:
- There must be a lag or some intermittent time sensitive issue when renaming files from a mac on a windows server?
My question:
- Is there anything out there that would prove this?
Any questions please let me know
Thanks in advance
