Anyone have any information (from playing with a beta version, etc.) on the AD connectivity functionality of Mountain Lion?
We have temporarily ceased implementing AD logon with our Macs as it was proving a little too problematic for the helpdesk to support. We just get their network resources mapped out for them and the account/password info saved in their keychain. They
have to deal with the issue of a password change every 6 months, as with their iPad and other devices, but that doesn’t seem to be a big deal.
Basically, not enough good reasons to have people logging on to AD with their Mac compared to the problems of troubleshooting the later possible issues. Particularly with mobile/laptop users.
That said, I have not had much time to spend in figuring out the root cause and "fixing" the problem (seems to be a moving target : ). So, the "problem" could (and probably is) all on my end.
At this point in time, not a big deal if Mac users don't log on to AD. Might be a bigger deal if we had a lot of classrooms full of Macs.
Thanks,
