- Thread-topic: iPads and bandwidth
We gave each freshman (315) an iPad3 this school year for them to use. This increased the total number of iPads in our district to 750. To help with the additional devices and app traffic, we increased our bandwidth from 30Mbps to 100Mbps (AT&T OPT-E-MAN service) but are finding out that is not enough to support the iPads and roughly 3,500 other devices on our network. We are averaging 17.2GB of Internet traffic to apple.com and use roughly 49GB of bandwidth every day (not including email traffic).
Two questions for the list:
1) Is every district seeing this much traffic going to apple.com with iPads?
2) How much bandwidth do you have in place to support the iPads?
Thank you,
Blair Anderson
