Hey Rockies list,
Great news! A long-requested feature for Apple TVs has been met with the 5.1 update, released earlier today.
Apple has released Apple TV Software Update 5.1 for 2nd and 3rd generation Apple TV models.
Apple TV Software Update 5.1 allows your Apple TV to install a configuration profile from Apple Configurator to configure Wi-Fi and Ethernet corporate networks.

NOTE: While this update brings much-needed network features to Apple TV's OS, AirPlay still requires Bonjour. If you want to span VLANs/subnets with AirPlay technology, you'll still need to leverage wifi management tools that do this (noted in my post on Friday, pasted below). Nonetheless, getting Apple TVs on an institution network should be easier, and setting them up with Apple Configurator will help save a lot of time.

--- In case you missed this, Aerohive is now offering it's Bonjour gateway appliance as a virtual machine appliance...for free. This is great news. As customers can leverage existing hardware/software to bridge VLANs, subnets, etc and more easily begin to offer support for Apple TV in education environments as a display/projection solution.
Has anyone downloaded/tested this yet? Or have you leveraged new Bonjour-supported hardware solutions from the likes of Aerohive, Cisco, Aruba, etc? ---
