All,
We are trying to get a handle on the best way to deliver classroom type experiences (or, new learning paradigms of any type) to our students. Not only "canned" videos of classroom lectures, but experiences that may include other course material, and/or
be interactive in nature (yes, I realize I'm looking for perfection).
We currently have 3 (not counting the legacy model of students sitting in a classroom and listening to a lecture) modes of course type delivery systems.
Blackboard
iTunes University (a local instance, but interested in moving to the Apple supported model)
Echo360
I would be most interested in hearing what others have done with integrating (or, moving from one mode to another) the above technologies. Or, if there are other similar types of technologies that I did not list.
Some of the capabilities would need to include:
1. Course content – should be variable between courses and include classroom lectures, notes, and other course content (pdf, etc.).
2. Scalability – So, able to handle very large classes (in the hundreds).
3. Accessibility – something that would be usable for delivery around the world
4. Security – something that would allow for certain classes to be "locked" to only certain students (no matter what school they are going to (or, no educational entity at all))
5. Cost – Cheaper is always better, but not the highest priority
6. Ease of use – easy for both the instructor and the students to use. Minimum adminstrative overhead (infrastructure wise) is a plus.
7. Collaborative – ability to have two way communication including sharing material/ideas. Instructor to students. And students to instructor. Possilby students to students.
Thanks for any help.
