Hi Everyone,
When the WWDC keynote and session videos began to surface two weeks ago, I was happy to see what was coming for education in regards to iOS 7 features. However, the rules are quite clear about what can be shared publicly. Here's how it works; if you and I are talking about iOS 7, and we're both members of the Developer program (free or paid), we can discuss the details of the iOS 7 and Mavericks (10.9) betas as discussed in the WWDC videos. If one of us isn't, then discussing those details would break the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that all developer account-holders must agree to. So, it's impossible to discuss those details on a public forum like this mailing list since it is a guarantee that at least one person isn't a member of a developer program.
That's why we couldn't share some of the details from that event. Again, I encourage you to sign up for a free developer account with your Apple ID and watch the video session titled "Managing Apple Devices." Great stuff.
And now, Apple Education has launched a new page that discusses some of the tent pole features for education that are coming in iOS 7 this fall. This is now public knowledge.
Key changes include the following:
- App Store licensing management
- New MDM options
- Streamlined MDM enrollment
- Single sign on
- AirDrop
- Enhancements for AppleTV
- Enroll students of all ages in iTunes U, iCloud and more
- Caching Server 2 supports iOS 7
Although information is limited, please visit the following page for a complete breakdown of the above bullet points. Education-focused seminars will be delivered this fall for Colorado customers so that you can see this in action.
Feel free to ask questions on this mailing list, but know that there are some details that will only come from the WWDC recorded sessions. If that happens, we'll simply refer to those resources instead of commenting on them publicly.
Thanks,
Corey
