Shahin, The whole things is a mess. You CAN update over the air, but if you do that, the iPad loses the activation that’s incorporated through Configurator, thus, the iPad loses its proper state of supervision. Then, when you connect them to Configurator, even though iOS 7 was done over the air, because it’s lost its supervision, it will re-install the latest iOS on the device, wipe it, and re-supervise. You need to contact Apple Enterprise support and you’ll have to export a CSV file from Configurator to send to them so they can provide you with a new updated trust certificate to fix this state of losing supervision and then re-run your devices with that new certificate. It’s a whole mess that Apple neglected to tell us about. So I’d call them up and see what they want you to do since you haven’t updated to 7 yet. I am not sure how I missed this little nugget during the 2 months that we have been holding off on updating our school iPads to iOS 7: If you use Apple Configurator to update previously supervised devices from iOS 6.x to iOS 7.x, AC will wipe the device, loosing all data on the device. Is this correct? So Apple is saying that the only way to update to iOS 7 is over the air???? Please tell me I am wrong! _____________________________ Telluride School District |
