- Thread-topic: Activation Lock without Apple ID Information
Hi, Michael, Corey, et. al.
Does Apple have any sort of solution for the situation where a student (or other user) has a school-issued iPad, uses their personal Apple ID to set up Find My iPad on a device running iOS 7 thereby setting up the Activation Lock, and then refuses to provide his/her Apple ID on returning the iPad or cannot be contacted? As you know, once the Activation Lock is set up, the device cannot be restored without having the Apple ID used to set up. We haven’t had this come up yet, but I can anticipate it happening, if only inadvertently - it’s already been reported by another school in the Apple Communities - and we’d like to know what we could do in such a situation. I don’t see any ability in Configurator 1.4 to lock out this feature on a managed iPad, but perhaps I’m just not seeing it.
Thanks and regards.
Dave Sawyer
