Were using several zagg.com keyboards. I know most of these are cases and you didn't want those, but they were the only ones we have found (which we liked) that have a groove in them to support the iPad as a stand when typing.
The curved zagg.com universal tablet keyboard is cool, and the case for the keyboard doubles as a stand but it does mean two things to carry around.
I personally use the apple wireless keyboard as I have it for my mac. It does mean I have to find a way to prop up the iPad on something though. I have to say it has been an excellent keyboard for typing on, and the battery life has been very good.
I’m looking for iPad keyboard recommendations, but NOT keyboard cases. If you have had a good experience, or a bad one, with a particular brand/model, please share with me. Thanks!
