I saw this footnote yesterday and wanted to pass it along. While FCP X continues to chip away at features that were removed when version 10.0 shipped, Apple’s recent announcement was no exception. Version 10.1 was released recently along with the now-shipping Mac Pro. This 10.1 release has (re)introduced Libraries, which was a key feature in Final Cut Pro v7.
— FCPX v10.1 now offers ‘libraries’ which easily combine the project and source files into a simple bundle that can be packaged up and transferred. Final Cut Pro X 10.1: Updating and working with libraries FAQ: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5958Managing Media with Final Cut Pro X Libraries: http://images.apple.com/final-cut-pro/docs/Media_Management.pdfPlease read the media management white paper BEFORE upgrading to v10.1 as it will make modifications to the FCPX file structure. If you do the upgrade first, then you’ll simply need to locate and re-establish a connection to existing projects. —
Thanks, Corey
