Hi Joel,

My experience with apple is not a happy one but I have tried to install both IPSW files and then I tried re-imaging our iPads with the "edit Custom IOS versions" enabled and pointed them to the files to lock in the IOS 7 version ...the iPads updated to IOS 8. Thanks Apple for making things easy! Good luck, let us know what happens.

One other weird thing with the iPad 2 is that there were two different WiFi revisions of the device, so make sure you grab both IPSW files if you don't know for sure which you have.

I’m having the same issues. The problems with our setup is that as soon as our iPad 2’s are connected via Configurator, it automatically wants to update to iOS 8, even when “never restore from backup” is selected. There was a fix posted last week that we could download an .ispw file from 7.1.2, but this is no longer a solution according to Enterprise Support since all older versions have been removed from Apple Servers. Now I’m forced to update to iOS 8 even though it causes slow performance on these older iPads.

Does anyone have a solution?
