Report from the JAMF JNUC Conference
This past week I had a chance to attend the JAMF (MDM) annual conference held in Minneapolis MN. Here are some highlights.
1. Bethel SD presented on their fall deployment (nearly 6000 iPads just this fall). It was a phenomenal session discussing not only the why but the how. Please let me know if you have questions and I can help connect with the Bethel team.
2. IBM presented on their OS X deployment. Fletcher Previn, VP of Workplace Service provided some staggering figures on how iOS and OS X deployments at IBM are going. Some quick highlights.
* Shrink-wrap to user, no IT involvement directly on the system.
* Deploy 1900 Macs per week, 130,000 iOS and OS X devices deployed so far.
* 24 total help desk personal to support that deployment (1:5375 ratio)
* Customer SAT on help desk is at 855 (much higher than the PC side)
* 98.7% first time call resolution
* 5% of Mac users call the help desk, 40% of PC users call the help desk

3. Related but not directly at the JAMF Conference - Joe Yamada at Northshore posted a small write up on his use of Apple Configurator 2.0 and JAMF to deploy 200 iPads.

AppleCare OS Support Agreement Options
Apple is working with OETC on a potential option to offer an OS Support Agreement. If you are not familiar, Apple offers a 3 tier OS Support Agreement helping IT departments support Apple products and technologies. More information on the support agreements can be found here. http://www.apple.com/support/professional/it-departments/
In Oregon OETC purchases a AppleCare OS Alliance agreement and sells seats to that agreement. This option provides institutions the ability to get the top level OS Support Agreement at a price just above that of a AppleCare OS Select Agreement (significant value).
I am working with OETC to bring this option to Washington State. This is a great value. Obviously this option is based on demand. If you are interested in learning more, or if you are an existing OS Support Agreement customer and want to discuss moving to this model for the next year, please contact me off list so we can discuss.
