So does this new build system suck as bad as it seems? Or is it only

If you try to install where you don't have write permissions, you'll get permissions errors. E.g., if you use DSTROOT=/, you'll need to install as root, i.e., sudo, because only root has write permissions in /Library/WebObjects/Applications.

I assume that if you use a DSTROOT where no existing /Library/WebObjects/Applications directories exist, they'll be created owned by you, so you won't get permissions errors although I've never tried doing so.

Art
