Hi Christian
I am a 4D dev and a newbie with WO. During my evaluation I saw nothing
in WO docs about 4D.
4D has a proprietary language pretty much inspired from Pascal and a
proprietary DBMS.
You can't even change the structure procedurally.
Yet there is tool called 4D Insider allowing the importation of a SQL
structure but I doubt you can transparently reverse engineer a 4D db.
Talking about bugs, the problem with 4D is that it's full of bugs,
shortcomings and strange behaviors that can throw errors. The first
version shipped in 1985 and was the first DBMS on the Mac. For a while
Steve Jobs wanted to make it the Mac database. It's has been upgraded
many years while trying to keep a compatibility including with
antiquated features. The underlying code must be a complete mess. They
correct one bug and 2 more pop up.
Therefore it's difficult to tell in advance if a bug is the dev's
responsibility or if it's because he didn't know there is a 4D's bug and
how to avoid it.
Ask me questions off list if you wish.

Hi,
quite a long time i'm developing openbase databases with EOModeler
and now i have to fix some bugs in an 4th Dimension database at a company
where the one who was working on it does not work there anymore...

Dimension-Code?
if yes: where can i get some info about it?
would be really good and much easier!
