Hi Lon, it sure can be frustrating when your heavy time investment projects don't work with the Dev tools.

I upgraded too, installing all updates from the Software Update utility and I don't have any problem either opening components in WO Builder from projects created with old Project Builder (Dec 2002 Dev Tools), XCode 1.0 or new projects created in XCode 1.1. So, you may have something gone out of whack in your system installation such as a permissions somewhere.

Have you tried the usual attack of solving weird issues .... that is reboot as single user and run fsck -y (if journalling on, use -f to force file system check, if not using journaling, you should be!), then after that repair permissions. Also, if your machine is asleep at night, then none of the maintenance tasks are being run, so use Cocktail to run the daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and change the system crontab so that those tasks run at a time when your machine is likely to be on (such as lunchtime). .... finally reboot of course. I have added a crontab item to repair permissions every day automatically and that along with ensuring the unix file maintenance tasks seem to keep my machine in good working order.

I hope this helps.

-K

Ok,

I foolishly installed the Xcode 1.1 update. Now WebObjects Builder is broken again and will not even open the default Main.wo on a newly created project with no modifications.

Can someone at Apple or anyone else confirm if this is a known issue?

I try to keep my frustrations off the list, but Apple please fix this completely broken and near useless tool. WOB is long overdue for a major update. At least EOB runs without Xcode, but WOB is useless without Xcode which actually makes it pretty lame, since we have long since moved from PB and Xcode to something that provides REAL time saving tools for java.

Of course WO 5.2.2 broke WOB's ability to read old style PB.project files as generated by WOProject. So this is rapid moving from merely frustrating to a major drawback of using WO and the antiquated tools that come with it.

Sorry for the rant.
Lon
