I'm not familiar with the WO tutorials but I would advise you to take this
one step at a time. Learn Java first so that you are familiar with the
language. Then, and only then, start with WO. Trying to do both at the
same time is a gargantuan task and likely to leave you more frustrated than
enlightened. The learning curve for WO is steep, with Java it is nearly
vertical.
My hands down recommendation to learn Java is Thinking in Java, 3rd
Edition, by Bruce Eckel. Bruce has generously made the entire book
available on-line here:

Or you can get a paper copy at most any bookstore that sells programming
books.
