Hi,
I've seen a lot of talk about incompatibility of WebObjects 5.1 and the
December 2002 developer tools. I have been using both without problems.
I am using either WO 5.1.3 or WO 5.1.4. I don't remember which, but it
is at least 5.1.3. I am also using the latest developer tools
(December) and more recently Jaguar 10.2.4. I continue to develop an
existing WebObjects application without problems. I also created a test
application without problems. Of course the existing "known issues"
still apply.
One issue that has continued to annoy me and has been a problem
throughout the WebObjects 5.1 versions on OS X is that the EOModeller
application is very unstable. It doesn't take much for the application
to quit "unexpectedly". In particular there are instabilities related
to the connection dictionary. If I change the connection dictionary and
fetch rows from a table, EOModeller crashes. When I relaunch
EOModeller, it is okay. I don't store my password in EOModeller, but
wait for it to request the information. If I cancel during a request,
EOModeller will crash. Does anyone know of a fix for this problem? Has
the problem been addressed in WebObjects 5.2? Has anyone else
experienced the EOModeller instability?
Mostly my experience with WebObjects 5.1 has been trouble free and have
found it to be a productive development environment.
