Well... If you're wanting to use WebObjects...
1) Install the Developer Tools, you should have it on CD or you can
download it from http://connect.apple.com (sign up for a free account).
2) Install WebObjects. It doesn't come with OS X.
3) Install OpenBase (http://www.openbase.com) Unless you really need
to use MySQL, I would suggest using OB instead. It's much better and
they have a free developer's license.
4) Start reading the online docs for WebObjects.
(http://developer.apple.com/webobjects) And maybe get a book, Amazon
has several, just make sure it's for WO5.
If you need to use MySQL, you'll have to futz around with the
preinstalled version that comes with OSX Server. Basically you'll have
to create a StartupItem to start it after a restart. But if you're
using the regular OSX then you'll need to install it. There's a
premade installer at http://www.entropy.ch/software/macosx/mysql/ (you
can use it on OSXS too).
Hope that helps.
Happy switching!

I JUST powered up my first Mac. It9s running OS X. I am a M$ software
developer that is coming over to the Mac world for database-centric web
development. I am assuming that I will be using WebObjects with MySQL.
Would someone be kind enough to tell me what packages, utilities, etc.
I
will need (or should install)?
Remember, this is a new machine with only OS X on the box... if it
didn9t
come with the OS, I don9t have it yet.
Thank you,
Ryan
